Water filter cartridges: types and replacement guidance
AMPAC offers sediment filters (5, 10, and 20 micron), carbon block filters, granular activated carbon (GAC) filters, KDF-GAC combination filters, alkaline remineralization filters, mixed bed DI resin cartridges, and polyphosphate scale-inhibitor filters, in standard 10″, 20″, BB10″, and BB20″ housing sizes.
A standard RO pre-filtration sequence runs sediment filter, then carbon block, then the RO membrane itself, then a post-carbon polishing filter. Matching filter housing size and micron rating to your system's specifications is the key to correct performance -- call (385) 530-1026 for compatibility guidance if you are unsure.
Sediment and carbon pre-filters should be replaced every 6-12 months, more often with high-chlorine or high-sediment feed water. A significant drop in flow rate or rise in permeate TDS both indicate that filter replacement is overdue. AMPAC filter cartridges use standard industry housing sizes and are compatible with most major RO system brands.
